No back legs

Another sad case this evening. A lady had noticed a hog that was having difficulty walking, and tried to catch it without luck until this evening, and she then kindly brought him over to us.

I immediately noticed ‘that’ smell about him, and when I managed to open him up was met with the horrible site of a huge mess of maggots in all stages eating away at the poor hog.

The reason for all the maggots was very obvious, both his back legs were missing, almost certainly due to a strimmer.

He was taken straight to EVC (the out-of-hours emergency vets) for euthanasia. It’s always sad when this happens, but sometimes it is definitely for the best.
