Increase the value of your donation by 25% at no extra cost with Gift Aid. Find out what Gift Aid is and how it works.
Gift Aid is a government scheme which lets us claim an extra 25p for every £1 you give.
It does not cost you anything extra to sign up to Gift Aid. This is because as a UK taxpayer you have already paid tax on the money you’re donating – whether that is directly in cash or indirectly through the purchase price of the items you donate.
Once we receive your donation, we get the tax you originally paid back from HMRC to top up the donation.
You can Gift Aid if:
You can Gift Aid donations if you pay income tax or capital gains tax, as long as you’ve paid enough tax during the year to cover the amount we are reclaiming on your donations.
If you live on your pension alone and do not pay tax, you will not be eligible.
If you pay a higher rate of tax (40% or above), you can claim the difference between the higher and basic rate on the total value of your donation.
There are a few ways you can set up a Gift Aid declaration. The easiest way is to download and complete our Gift Aid form.
Please return the completed form to:
Dorset Hedgehog Rescue, Ashley Barn, Briantspuddle, Dorchester, DT2 7HL.
You can also call us on 01929 290112 to make an oral declaration.
You need to have a separate Gift Aid declaration for each charity that you support with Gift Aid.
The Gift Aid scheme means your donations have added value and can help ensure Dorset Hedgehog Hub is always there to care for our native wild hedgehogs, day in, day out.
If someone donated £400 to us, we could claim an extra £100 in Gift Aid.
That extra £100 would help pay for the following:
• Contribute to the cost of food and equipment needed to support hedgehogs during their rehabilitation
• Contribute towards the cost of veterinary treatment
• Fund essential treatment facilities
• Provide appropriate accommodation for recovery and rehabilitation of hedgehogs
• Support successful releases through provision of monitoring technology and on-going research and data collection
• Provide educational programmes for children and adults to raise awareness and promote knowledge and empathy of hedgehogs, their habitat and conservation
It’s important to let us know if you stop paying tax or if you change your name or address, so that we can update our records.
