Say hello to tiny Tina! She came in yesterday morning weighing just 112g after staff at Magellan Aerospace found her wandering around in the car park on an industrial estate.
After a search for her mum or any other hoglets and finding none, she was placed in a box with newspaper to keep her warm and we were called in to care for her.
She is around 3 – 4 weeks old and just growing her teeth. She will join the ever growing number of hoglets who are are destined to spend their first winter with us. Baby hedgehogs born this late in the year are unlikely to make enough body fat to survive hibernation, so releasing them before spring is a certain death sentence.
Thank you to the guys who picked her up. She definitely would not have survived out on her own!
