We are a small registered wildlife charity that works 24/7, 365 days a year to rescue, rehabilitate and release our native wild hedgehogs.
We provide a unique and vital service to Dorset’s community as the local ‘hospital’ to help hedgehogs.
Each of the hundreds of hedgehogs we help every year has a unique story, and a person who cared enough to stop what they were doing to bring a hedgehog to the rescue centre.
We comply with strict legal regulations and have regular inspections by vets.
We support the general public, local vets, and the RSPCA. We operate 7-days a week, 365 days year. We are funded by donations from the public and our own fundraising efforts.
We have over ten years of direct experience in helping sick, injured, and orphaned wild hedgehogs in their time of need.
Year on year we see an increase in the number of hedgehogs needing help and treatment.
Please support us with our ongoing costs so that we can continue to function at the level needed to address the demand for our hedgehog rescue and to ensure we can continue to help hedgehogs in the future.
Taking in over 750 sick, injured and orphaned hoglets and hedgehogs per year, we are Dorset’s busiest hedgehog rescue and rehabilitation centre, and with our new premises will be able to take many more.
We can house over 100 hedgehogs at any one time in our main ward, and have 15 incubators in our dedicated ICU for neonates and the more poorly hedgehogs that need heat to help them recover.
We’re open 7 days a week, 365 days per year to care for sick, injured or abandoned hedgehogs. We are NOT open to the public, except for admissions, as this would be too stressful for the hedgehogs.
We rely on a small army of volunteers and run popular outreach and education programmes that help people take actions to make the world a better place for us and our animal neighbours in the natural world.
