We are extremely busy at the moment with so many Hoglets (babies) to feed, and new entries to see to.
Yesterday’s entries included an adult male hog, query broken pelvis, six hoglets ranging in weight from 84 – 97g, and a mother hog with a 24 – 36 hour old hoglet brought in from Yeovil.
Tracy rescued a mother and her babies (5) after they were disturbed under decking – two of the hogs had fallen into a 3′ deep drain which had Tracy scrabbling on the ground, with her arm up to her arm pit in the drain pipe using a long handled gripper to get them out.
Today looks to be going the same way, with the phone ringing constantly since 7a.m
We simply cannot collect hogs at the moment, with so many hoglets that are being hand fed, not to mention the cleaning of cages, sorting out meds etc, so if you find a hog in need of help, please make an effort to bring it in to us (or another rescue), or at least take it to a vet.
PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE A HOG IN NEED OF CARE OUT, THEY WILL NOT BE OK AND THEY WILL NOT ‘SORT THEMSELVES OUT’
