Here are some of our singleton orphan hoglets that have been put together. Hoglets do better when they have littermate, or substitutes.
Hoglets cannot generate or regulate their temperature very well when they weigh less than 300g or so, and being able to huddle together helps them stay warm, and also gives them a sense of security.
They take to each other right away, and seem to crave company, especially if they have been on their own for a while.
It’s common for us to open an incubator and find them all huddled together in a pile – what we call a ‘snuggle huddle’
