This afternoon we had a call from the Estate Office at Lulworth Estate Castle regarding a hedgehog nest that had been discovered in a precarious place in the open courtyard shortly before they phoned us for advise.
With Camp Bestival due to begin tomorrow and lasting until the 10th August, staff were concerned that the nest may be disturbed by some of their expected 30,000 visitors!
Hedgehog care assistant Julia Bradley offered to go and collect the mum and her babies and bring them into the safety of rescue. They are now tucked up all snug and will be returned to the grounds of Lulworth Castle when the two hoglets are weaned and the festival is over.
The hoglets are around 3 – 5 days old and travelled well and very relaxed suckling at their mother on the journey
