This afternoon we were given some training by vet Tamzin from Lynwood Vets on using our new ultrasound scanning machine. The training was arranged by Jim for senior staff at the rescue, but he was then unable to attend at the last minute due to a sudden flare up of an old injury in one of his legs and unable to walk. Gutted!

We were able to confirm several of the hedgehogs currently in rescue are pregnant and all at different stages of gestation. How exciting!

Having this machine will enable us to discover when the females are pregnant much sooner than the usual way – by finding surprise babies in the nest.
Jo from Hedgehog Friendly Portland also came along to join Cheryl, Kay and Tracy for the training.
