We collected this young hoglet recently from Kinson – A lady was clearing leaves in her garden when she inadvertently uncovered a nesting mother with babies.
The mother ran off leaving the hoglets behind. The lady left the hoglets alone, hoping the mother came back. About 20 minutes later the mother did come back, and carried off one of the hoglets. Unfortunately, she did not come back again.
After about an hour, the lady decided to bring the remaining hoglet indoors to keep it warm.
The hoglet was quite cool and dehydrated, we placed her back in an incubator to warm up before we try to feed her as hoglets will not take food if they are cold. Once warmed up, she readily accepted a feed of formula.
