This elderly male hedgehog weighing 501g was brought in from Carey last night. He is in very poor condition, emaciated, dehydrated and has several bite wounds. He also had flystrike including maggots in some of the wounds.
He was given subcutaneous fluids, the flystrike removed and his wounds were cleaned and treated.
He is still obviously very sore, and still nervous. He has eaten overnight so we’re hoping that with his treatment plan he will make a good recovery.
