Bilbo

We have had a young male hog brought in on Saturday, as it was noticed hobbling about during the day, and the finders also recognised that it was dehydrated.

We gave it a check over, and noticed that it’s back right leg had been cut almost through, and that broken bones were visible. This appears to have been due to the foot having been trapped in something, as the wound went right around the foot.

We cleaned him up a bit, gave him subcutaneous fluids for the dehydration and some pain relief, and phoned EVC (the out of hours vets). They are busy dealing with a couple of patients at the moment, so we have to take him in about 9pm.

Here are a couple of photos of the injured foot (not pretty). You can see the difference in size between the normal left foot, and the swollen, injured right foot.
