Time for an update on the little orphan hoglets – now 4 days old and growing, weighing around 22g. They are still blind and deaf at this age and would usually be totally reliant on their mother.
Sadly, and as expected, the bruised and bitten all over hoglet passed away the first evening. The trauma was just too much for his little body to cope with.
They are still very tiny, as can be seen in the video – for reference, that is a 0.5ml syringe they are being fed with. Two of them are still touch and go at the moment, but we grow more hopeful as each day passes.
