Trapped in a hole

Tracy was called out earlier this evening to rescue a hedgehog trapped in a hole. On arrival however, it became apparent that the hog was dead.

The hole was where a fence post had been removed, and the hole had not been back-filled – all the other holes had been.

Unfortunately this little hog had fallen into the hole, and could not get out. The poor thing had starved to death.

The lady who had called us was livid with the fencing company that had replaced the fence, and heart broken because this young hog had died.

Please take care when doing jobs like this, and be aware that wildlife can get trapped in open holes. If a hole must be left open, please leave a ramp or other means for any creatures that may fall into the hole can get out.
