The first two new entries of 2026 –
Eve, a 271g female juvenile with two nasty head wounds – call came in at 00.17 on new years morning. Her poo sample shows she has intestinal roundworms and a heavy lungworm infestation. Her wounds have been treated and she has started medication to deal with her parasite burden.
Duke, a 226g male juvenile found wandering around on a lawn early this morning.
Both of these hedgehogs would have been in serious trouble due to being too small for hibernation and would almost certainly not have survived the winter.
