We’ve just collected this adult female hog which was attacked by a dog. Another dog walker shouted at the dog’s owner, who then made the
Bilbo Baggins had to pay a visit to the Vets today. She had one of her rear legs amputated by the emergency vets recently, due to having had it trapped somehow and in getting herself free had ripped part of the leg off.
The resulting wound was infected, despite a course of antibiotics, which has caused problems with the healing of the amputation wound.
Upton vets took her in today to clean up the wound and re-stitch it for us. The wound was flushed, debrided and lasered, then stitched up. Hopefully it will heal properly now, and Bilbo can get on with rehabilitation.

We had a couple of emergencies before 9 o’clock this morning, one of which has sadly had to be put to sleep.The first was a female, probably hit by a car, and had several head wounds. It was taken straight to the vets, where x-ray showed multiple skull fractures, including one the that had split the head from front to back, and had split the sinus.
We are having a run on hogs coming in with badly damaged legs at the moment. This young hog on arrived on Sunday, having been
