This poor chap is Nelson, and adult male hog weighing 1040g. He was brought in yesterday evening after being found in someone’s kitchen!
He has several bite wounds to his head – one just in front of his left ear, one that has punctured his left eye and one on the top of his head. He also has one through his left hind foot. He is quite poorly with it and appears to be in a lot of pain. We cleaned his wounds and treated them, gave him pain relief and antibiotic injection, and gave him subcutaneous fluids.
He has eaten overnight, but is still very listless. His treatment will continue, and we hope he will make a good recovery.
