Mutual Aid

Working alongside other rescues has benefits for all of us, not least in the pooling of resources and mutual aid.

Angela from C.R.A.S.H called us this morning as she cannot drive at the moment and she’d had a call about a hedgehog trapped under an industrial bin in a warehouse on Poole Quay.

Luckily, Tracy was in Poole shopping, so she whipped round to Dolphin Quays, where the staff had already managed to free the hedgehog, so she collected the hog and brought him home.

He was given a thorough check over, and no injuries were evident, though we suspect he has some bruising, which will become more evident in the next day or so. He was only slightly dehydrated, which was a surprise as the staff though he must have been trapped since Thursday.

He weighs in at 511g, so a decent weight for having come out of hibernation.

We have given him subcutaneous fluids, a warm bed and some food and water. All being well, he should be fit and ready to go in a couple of days.
