Hoglets and a tortoise

We are getting quite busy now at the barn, with lots of hedgehogs being brought in, mostly hoglets and juveniles that are struggling to find food in this dry weather of late.

We currently have 118 hedgehogs in our care, and had 104 brought in to us in July, most of them being hoglets that require intensive care and feeding around the clock.

We had another two hoglets in this morning, both females, one at 79g and one at 106g. Neither has their eyes open yet, so less than two weeks old. Thanks to Denise for collecting them and bringing them over to the barn.

We also had an unusual entry, a tortoise that was found in the road. It was brought to us to check if it had a microchip, which it did, and it was duly returned to the grateful owner.
Also a picture of Mable feeding her babies who all appear fit and healthy.

We have also been busy microchipping hedgehogs that are ready for release, with several having gone back out over the last few days. We microchip all our released hedgehogs for post-release monitoring.
