We are still having an incredibly busy time with mums and babies coming in, ranging from 11 on Monday for example, and 7 today.
The 11 that came in on Monday were all living together in a plastic bag in a shed. One large adult male was checked over, microchipped and sent back with the finder for release. There were two mums with 4 hoglets each who are now residing with us until the hoglets are large enough to release.
The mum and her 6 hoglets that came in today are all healthy, with the mum weighing in at a whopping 1300g 😮 these were from a garden that was being cleared and they were found in a pile of wood and other rubbish that was about to be burned.
We have also had several lone hoglets throughout the week and a few adults. One hoglet has a broken leg and is currently sporting a fetching orange bandage that is keeping his leg supported while the fracture heals.
Our team of wonderful volunteers are doing a fab job of looking after the hedgehogs, feeding, cleaning and weighing them. It is only with the support of our volunteers and donors that we are able to look after so many hedgehogs, get them well and return them to the wild – Thank you!
