This 478g male hog was brought in earlier today with a massively infected strimmer wound to his head. He stank of infection and his head was thickly encrusted with dried pus and blood. His right eye has been destroyed and we are not sure about his left eye as his face is too swollen to tell yet.
The wound was cleaned and he has been started on a course of antibiotics and pain relief. He was also given subcutaneous fluids. He is now in one of our ICU’s where he has already eaten a small amount of food.
As it is the 40th anniversary of the Falklands War, I have named him Jeremy after one of my old Commanding Officers, and the land commander of the Falklands war, Major General Sir John Jeremy Moore, KCB, OBE, MC & Bar.
