Some of you may remember this litter of 5 newborn hoglets which arrived with us after the death of their mother three days after she gave birth.
Their sizes ranged from 24g to 36g, the smallest one Clementine is in the top pic being hand fed..
We were very worried for her survival at first, not least of all when her weight dropped to just 19g within 48 hours of her mother dying.
Although she lagged behind her siblings in weight, she is now a chunky 599g and is ready to be released early next week. Several of her siblings have already been released, with the last one due to follow soon.
She’s the star of the year and the smallest we have hand fed this year so far. With a newborn recently arrived with her eyes closed and weighting 106g you can see how variable birth weights can be!
