Bag of peat

Another precious bundle of (4) hoglets ranging from 27g to 33g were brought in to us yesterday afternoon after having been found buried in a bag of peat.

We had to use a soft toothbrush to clean the peat and leaf debris off them, and clean peat out of their mouths.

They were put into an ICU to warm up, and when suitably warmed were given oral hydration fluid. They all fed well over night, taking 0.5ml every two hours, and are toileting well.

We are always concerned when hoglets come in so cold as they can be fine for a couple of days and then just fail to thrive and die. We’re hoping these little hoglets will not succumb though.
