Little Bilbo is doing well after his amputation, he is eating well, and has done the all important post op poo and wee.
We are keeping him in the incubator for another night, just to be safe, and then he will be moved into one of our hospital cages.
This is Willow, an adult female, not pregnant, not lactating, collected from Bovington this morning after being found out in daylight, very cold and lethargic. She has a skin condition and is losing her spines, but is a very good weight for post-hibernation, weighing in at 1009g (I know, you should never tell anyone a ladies weight ).
Three very poorly hogs in one after the other this evening; One with bite wounds which are infected, including one through the right eye, head wound, dehydrated, emaciated and covered in ticks. Currently in one of the ICU/recovery units, in critical condition.
Button was brought to us after being found collapsed on a driveway. She was taken to the Vets as we are very concerned for her. She has swelling all down her right side, from her eye to her tail, including her legs, and has severe bruising. She was x-rayed but no breaks were found thankfully. It is possible that she has some brain trauma, and we will have to wait and see how that develops.
Two new entries today, one just after midnight last night and one this morning at 8.30.Last night’s entry is a male, found unresponsive on the pavement. He was dehydrated so was given subcutaneous fluids and offered food and water. He had eaten all his food when we checked him earlier this morning and is looking fine, so will be released after a couple of days observation.
Our incubators have literally been life savers for some of our hedgehogs, with only one that we used the incubator for dying very soon after
This little chap is Robbie. He came to us at the end of February with a strimmer wound to the back of his head (you can see where his spikes have been cut by the strimmer in the photos below) and the worst case of pneumonia we’ve ever seen.
We collected this little lady yesterday, who was found wandering about on the road earlier in the day. She is very weak, dehydrated, extremely emaciated,
