Meet Marian, she came to us last week after being seen out in daytime, wandering around aimlessly. She has a sunken left eye and her right eye looks milky, so is possibly blind.
As you can see from the photos, she also has significant spine loss, probably from a mite or ringworm infection that, judging from the condition of her skin, appears to have cleared up.
Just in case, we have given her a topical mite treatment.
Cases like this are always a quandary, eye problems aside, with the spine loss do you keep them until the spines grow back, with all the problems and stress that goes with being in captivity, or let them go and be vulnerable to predators.
We will wait and see what is going on with her eyes before making a firm decision.
