Yet another sad case – it’s been all strimmer and dog attacked hogs lately.
This 38g hoglet was brought in earlier after a dog destroyed a nest, injured the mother hog, who then took off, and killed the hoglets except one.
This hoglet has a nasty wound to its left flank, but it is too small to risk being anesthetised to stitch it, so we are hoping it will repair on its own. At this age it’s eyes and ears are still not open, and it would be totally reliant on it’s mother.
The hoglet was warmed, has had 1ml of formula and is now sleeping it off in one of our ICU’s. It will be hand reared from now on.
