2026 Campaign

Regular Donations

Why Regular Giving Is Important

Thanks to our wonderful supporters, hedgehogs can receive treatment, food and care and are given the best possible chance to be rehabilitated and released back into the wild where they belong.

Knowing that we have a steady income stream that we can rely on will help us plan for the future and support those animals which need long-term care for their rehabilitation

By setting up a regular gift, you can help ensure that Dorset Hedgehog Rescue is always there to care for hedgehogs, day in, day out.

Our rescue costs in the region of £275 per day to run, or £100,000 per year, so it is important that we are able to raise enough funds to pay for this. This is where you come in.

How You Can Help

By choosing to give a regular monthly donation you will be helping us to plan ahead, provide the best care for hedgehogs under rehabilitation and train more volunteers and rescue drivers to support us during the busiest of times of the year.

Giving on a regular basis allows you to budget your support by spreading the cost over a long period, paying smaller amounts on a monthly basis. You can be confident that by providing this form of ongoing support you are supporting Dorset Hedgehog Rescue in the most effective way to guarantee our future.

The difference a gift makes…. where your money goes

Dorset Hedgehog Rescue strives to provide the highest standards of care to each and every hedgehog that comes into our care, alleviating suffering and providing treatment and dedicated attention.

From as little as £2 a month, regular donations help to:

  • Contribute to the cost of food and equipment needed to support hedgehogs during their rehabilitation
  • Contribute towards the cost of veterinary treatment
  • Fund essential treatment facilities
  • Provide appropriate accommodation for recovery and rehabilitation of hedgehogs
  • Support successful releases through provision of monitoring technology and on-going research and data collection
  • Provide educational programmes for children and adults to raise awareness and promote knowledge and empathy of hedgehogs, their habitat and conservation
It All Adds Up!

No donation is too small – it all adds up to make a significant difference to the lives of the hedgehogs that need our help!

  • Thank you for your efforts to help the dear little hedgehog was a beloved wild visitor to my garden in Poole for water, hedgehog food and garden snails etc. Tragically he had become trapped somewhere unexpected, whilst I was away for a few days. Thank you for trying to save him, and for the wonderful work you do. In Hoglet’s cherished memory I am making a monthly donation.

  • We have had many Hedgehogs in our garden over the years and have needed support on a number of occasions, a kind lady from Northmoor who looked after ill and injured hogs whom was overwhelmed with hogs, still took ours in, a couple of them sadly died but other were returned to our garden. We provide a feeding station and capture them on our trail cam, and its great to see wildlife in action. We don’t use pesticides or slug pellets as I am sure this has been responsible for the death of at least one of our hogs visiting other gardens. However, thanks to you at Dorset Hedgehog Rescue, hogs get a second, third or forth chance of surviving thus, I felt it important to support your efforts with a small monthly donation. Thank you!

What We Do

  • We provide a rescue service caring for sick, injured and orphaned hedgehogs.
  • We rehabilitate the hedgehogs in our care and return them to the wild wherever possible.
  • We ensure that the hedgehogs in our care receive the best care available using veterinary guidance and best practice.
  • We inspire learning about the world of our native wild hedgehogs, encouraging everyone to discover what they can do to protect it.
  • Increase public awareness about the decline in hedgehogs, the hazards they face, and to encourage children to respect hedgehogs and take an interest in hedgehogs.
  • Assist in scientific and behavioural research as we are able.
  • We encourage Dorset residents to adopt hedgehog friendly activities in their gardens.
  • Provide training for green space managers, both council based and countryside contractors, in the ecology of Hedgehogs.

Every donation makes a difference and helps us to help hedgehogs.
